Be Wary of Broker Transport Companies such as this one....

Subject: Civic Type-R

We wanted to share my most recent car transport experience since many of us need shipping services for our toys!  Let me first say 90% of shippers use brokers and few companies own their own trucks.  Since everyone else was busy or had a 3 week wait to pickup we decided to try another referral from here (OJ logistics) and so far it’s been a nightmare. They are a broker and hired this trucking company to pickup which was smooth at the dealer. However we get a call last Wed from New Mexico police and wanted to confirm the car was mine. Apparently the driver got stopped at the San Juan port in NM because he had multiple tickets and violations. They impounded his trailer and as of right now it’s still stuck there. Total nightmare and I’m pissed!  Broker has not been very forthcoming with details and they told us the DOT was holding their trailer till the 19th!  I’ve tried to call them but basically very little news.  Trucking company tried to blame the DOT but I’m pretty sure it’s the drivers fault with these violations.

The officer who pulled the 3-car trailer over gave us the run down: 1) the driver blasted past the checkpoint so they had to chase him down. 2) The transport was put out of service for over 20 violations including the two most crazy: no trailer brakes and only running 2 axles on a 3 axle trailer meaning 2 wheels were MISSING!  My guess is the transport didn’t call me because they wanted to milk time while they try to fix their trailer to avoid me taking the car off their trailer which means they don’t get paid. 3) there were 3 cars in the trailer (Rolls Royce, Tesla and my CTR in the most inner location.  All the info I listed above is from the state police officer. Luckily he is a car guy and was very helpful.

We will never use another 3rd party broker again.  The haul was a 3-car trailer and luckily our Type-R was in the furthest inside spot.  They pulled out the Tesla and the Rolls Royce and used the RR to run to auto parts store to buy parts to fix their trailer!  WOW - speechless!
